Dog obsessively chasing tail and barking after meals
I have a 2yr old St. Bernard. After he eats, he will often start obsessively chasing his tail and barking at his butt. He will do this for 10-15min or so nonstop and seriously looks like he’s in pain. We have been to the vet. We have given him a dewormer med but this didn’t seem to be the issue. The vet was a bit dismissive and didn’t try to fully understand the issue and just wanted to give him epilepsy meds because he thinks this is nervous behavior but logically I don’t think it would be epilepsy if this occurs after meals specifically. He does this after meals with a frequency of about 80% of the time. I don’t want to give him the epilepsy meds because the doc didn’t take the time to understand the issue and I don’t want to treat him like a lab rat with the tactic of just giving him random medications until something works. Has anyone had their dog acting in a similar way?
