Season 1 episode 1 was the beginning of the end of their friendship. By Toni bringing Joan’s ex to her BIRTHDAY party of all parties, I really felt that their friendship was beginning to deteriorate and this was something I saw throughout the seasons up until the custody battle. I think Joan and Toni no longer had a friendship but a codependency on the show and Maya and Lynn were kind of like “distractions” or “reasons” to be friends. All four of these ladies were friends but Joan and Toni were like two old friends who just so happens to share the same two friends(Maya and Lynn)
