Am I the only one that thinks this is one of the funniest scenes? 😂
S6:E9
S6:E9
Last night I started Season 5 on Netflix and I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but the camera quality looks way different compared to Season 4. Like, it was immediately noticeable to me. Did they change cameras, filming style, or something with the production? Am I the only one seeing this?
Okay so we all know that Toni told the girls a secret about having $500k saved up so she’ll never have to go back to Fresno. However, that makes me think about season 2, and how Toni basically went broke, and was down on her luck. For instance, why couldn’t she dig into her “Never going back to Fresno” fund? Then I thought to myself maybe Toni started that fund after she had gotten back on her feet because of what she went through at the time of almost losing it all, and it had given her a wake up call. So she made sure to never be in that position again. Though $500k is a lot to save up unless Toni locked in, and was selling houses back to back. What do you all think? Does it seem realistic?
When you think about girlfriends what is the first thing that comes to mind? One of my top phrases is “OH HELL NO!” 🤣
Toni assaults her best friend Joan for accidentally telling Greg she was seeing Dr. Spencer. Was Joan to blame or Toni?
I always thought (still do) Jealous Joan was worse than IT girl Joan.
I'm watching the particular scene of when Joan went over to Toni after them fighting because Joan caused her to cancel her showing of a house of a big commission because Joan was at the car dealership.
Joan showed up to the house spent a few hours with Morgan and assumingely helped her around the house, but got a call from Javon to go out that evening which then Joan prepare to leave. I'm failing to feel as if Joan was wrong in that particular seen. Thoughts?
I just came here to say that i fuckingggg HATTEEEE how Darnell addressed Maya’s experience with the pills. Like why would you be so confrontational and then have the nerve to say “if you’re struggling, come to me” BOIIIIII if you don’t….. UGH!
Joan and William gave Maya way too much grace as an executive assistant. Yes, Maya always showed up to work, but she constantly overstepped her boundaries with Joan and William as her bosses. Because she was part of the friend group, Maya felt far too comfortable blurring the lines. There’s a time to kick back and a time to be professional, but in a workplace setting, etiquette and boundaries should always apply. William actually had the backbone to fire Maya because he took his career seriously and couldn't afford to risk it. Yet, Maya had the nerve to act entitled as if she was completely untouchable simply because they were friends. In reality, being fired was necessary for her, because forced her to actually evolve (though that's a topic for another day). By the way if there’s anyone who works in law in this community as a lawyer, paralegal, etc. Is it normal for friends or family to visit law firms throughout the day and just hang out in the office because that’s something I’ve always been curious about? As I found it strange how all of the girlfriends would just be packed in Joan’s office with the door opened at any time during the day though I know that it’s still television.
When it comes to Toni and Joan, most people say that Joan simply didn’t want Toni to get married before her. I can agree with that to a point though I believe they were both competing with each other, which most of us already know.
However, if you had a "Toni" in your personal life (or experienced a friend like her), wouldn't you also want to give her advice and ask if she's sure she's making the right decision? Toni got engaged to Dr. Spencer in less than a month, got engaged to the football player in less than a week, and then got engaged to Todd after less than a year together. Though we know that Toni explicitly expressed that she was marrying for money, not love. If you were Toni’s best friend, would you personally still ask her if she’s sure about her decision, just like Joan did? In my opinion, Joan was asking out of genuine concern, but also because she didn't want Toni to beat her to the altar. Two things can be true at once. At the end of the day, they were still best friends, and that concern is going to be there whether the motivation is entirely pure or not.
Title is simple; if Girlfriends was an 80s sitcom, who would you cast as:
Maya, Toni, Lynn, Joan and William?
I’ve watched Girlfriends throughout my life, as a child, a teen, in my twenties and now rewatching at 33. This is my first time getting past season 6 when Toni left.
Just completed season 7 and the start of season 8 when Joan embarrassed Aaron in front of her friends, then came home and was a massive bitch while “apologizing” to him. Even buying the stove/range behind his back shows she’s not ready for a partnership. They’re literally renovating a whole house. What’s wrong with buying a simple stove, selling it and upgrading in a couple years?
If she wanted to marry a wealthier man to match her bougie lifestyle, Brock literally presented the option to her. You don’t agree to marry a man, knowing his financial situation, unless you’re willing to adjust to his lifestyle. This is exactly why I don’t date men who earn less than me lol
Humiliating him in public, not yielding when he’s right, no communication or conflict resolution skills. I’m not a “traditional” woman by any definition, but there are certain things I think a wife should do to make a marriage work, just as a husband. Joan doesn’t want to be a wife. She just wanted to compete with Toni in a race to the altar, chasing some childish notion of marriage while possessing none of the skills necessary to make it work long term.
My two cents.
The best $100 ever spent. 169 episodes on 25 discs plus special features!
With it being removed from Netflix, I did not want to lose my ability to watch one of my favorite shows of all times.
I’m sure it’s because the women are gorgeous and genuinely hilarious, but damn, the white men I’ve dated were absolutely obsessed with this show after I recommended it 😂 I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised considering the EP was a white man, but it still cracks me up.
Ok so the aids episode… If your at my house and I tell you to throw the knife away, I expect it in the trash the next minute; idc what the cdc said 🤣 ik this episode was for education purposes but be so fr lol.
