Anyone Else Wish The Demon Slayer Corps Was A Bigger Part Of The Story.

Anyone Else Wish The Demon Slayer Corps Was A Bigger Part Of The Story.

Very early in the series we’re introduced to the demon slayers corps, we learn that there are 10 different ranks among them and obviously unknown benchmarks that exist to reach higher ones

We know that the kakushi serve as medical personnel for the corps, we learn about the final selection and Hashira apprentices/tsugoku and all of this is within provably the first 20 chapters, after that it’s purely about demons, Hashira and Tsugoko.

Maybe it’s the ex-power scaler in me but I think the story would be more interesting if they expanded on that instead of it basically being you’re a Hashira or a hashira in training or you’re literal canon fodder regardless of rank, It’s almost like they skipped past them being relevant for a little bit. like Jonin in early Naruto and went straight to being irrelevant forever.

- I’m fine with the first few ranks being randoms but it’d be nice if maybe at Kanoes rank, tsuchinoto/give that you had to have killed like 30 demons or maybe atleast learned a certain amount of breath techniques

- it’d be nice if maybe a few ranks before Hashira we got some named characters who could never reach a hashiras level but had enough experience and skill using breath forms to be relevant against lower moons

- and just how we know they have medics, it’d be cool to see specific corps units that have certain training to deal with certain demons, like a defense unit etc

- maybe something like the rank before Hashira requires you to have survived a fight with a lower moons or just anything at all

Update: after thinking about it even more it’s actually retarded to have more than like 3 ranks If Hashira are the only strong ones and also the final selection is pretty dumb but we already knew that

  1. Sending people to the final selection and then implying they weren’t even worthy of being the lowest possible corps rank because they died is the equivalent of sending a naturally strategic, super athletic, high potential group of 18 year olds into a guarded cartel compound that knows they’re coming and saying they weren’t soldier material

  2. Instead of wasting human lives and potential Hashira tier people the corps should downsize by like 75% and then focus on getting the hashira to train them in smaller groups, The corps is 99.9999% quality over quality

Instead of basically handing the demons who FUCKING GET STRONGER VIA CONSUMING PEOPLE easy targets they could focus on getting just like 50-150 people relative to even episode one Tanjiro and the corps would automatically be 10x stronger and demons would have less food.

Besides Gyomei & maybe Sanemi, every Hashira has some type of hater that bashes them and calls them weak. But if you pay attention they’re ALL in the top .2% of slayers to ever exist

Gyutaro was the weakest upper moon for 120+ years and had killed FIFTEEN Hashira and Daki who’s more so an a really strong lower moon had killed SEVEN

Mind you the former thunder Hashira was put into retirement via fighting a demon who was lower moon tier at the most cause if it was a upper moon it’d have been mentioned

—-

Gyutaro runs into tengen who’s consistently ranked as a lower 3 Hashira from his generation and was already stronger than Daki who had killed 7 and bare minimum a fair match against Gyutaro who had killed 15

I won’t harp on muichiro much because he was already an objective generational talent but he did proceed to mid diff an upper moon 4 that’d be significantly stronger than UM6 and Mitsuri showed close relativity to UM4 only really outclassed in endurance

Rengoku did get low diffed by Akaza, But that’s a demon who’s likely stronger than every Hashira ever besides Gyomei and whoever Kokoshibo mentioned he had ran into over a century before and he managed to do very decent without a mark

Giyu goes on to do even better post mark, and against UM1 who’s in a league of his own made it clear that Sanemi was among the strongest slayers he ever met before quickly meeting Gyomei after, Mind you Gyomei is even stronger
