Tony
I'm not a Bourdain super fan, but went to see Tony tonight and walked away feeling like it did him quite a disservice. What was the point in focusing on such a small part of his life when he was an arsehole, as a lot of people are at that age, and then briefly saying what he achieved at the end...but so brief it left so much out! If you knew nothing about him it doesn't exactly inspire you to dig in.
The acting, scenery etc was good, I just didn't understand the point. Oh and no girl would pine after a guy that creepy and pathetic, who lies etc That part seemed so mis- characterised.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more I think it wouldn't have bothered me so much that it was only the formative period if the character had had more depth. Going back to the romance storyline it's like I was watching an incel's fantasy play out 😂 You can be pathetic but also sweet, or an arsehole but also charismatic or funny. The way the 'character' was written he had zero redeeming qualities...and even if he wouldn't have admitted it himself, there would have been some initial spark there for the basis of what he became. If I were the female character I'd have filed a restraining order, not pined after him!
