Quick update a week on from launching TeeMates — just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone here who checked it out, signed up, gave feedback, or messaged me with ideas. The response has been really helpful.
I’ve made a lot of updates over the last week based on what people said:
- improved parts of the site and user flow
- made a lot of tweaks from early feedback
- generally tried to make it simpler and more useful
A couple of the bigger changes are:
- it now also works for non-club members
- the token system has been removed following feedback, so there’s now absolutely no barrier to entry
So as well as club members hosting rounds at their course, non-members can now host open games at local/public courses too. The idea is to make it easier for more people to get involved, find games, and meet more golfers — even if they’re not members anywhere.
There’s still loads to improve, but it’s moving in the right direction.
What I still need most is more hosts to help keep it active and useful:
- club members willing to host at their course
- non-members willing to set up open games
- generally just more people creating rounds so the community keeps moving
As a point of note, there are now also some upcoming tee times on there, including:
Betchworth Park (Surrey) — 30 Apr 2026 at 4:00 PM — member guest fee £40
Goswick Links (Northumberland) — 1 May 2026 at 12:26 PM — member guest fee £30
Grimsby Golf Club (Lincolnshire) — 7 May 2026 at 9:30 AM — member guest fee £25
Woodbury Park (Devon) — 16 May 2026 — time TBC — member guest fee £30
Knutsford Golf Club (Cheshire) — 28 Jun 2026 — morning TBC — member guest fee £20
Friendly casual round. “Hidden Gem” – Rick Shiels
If you’ve already had a look — thank you.
If you haven’t yet, I’d really appreciate you taking a look and letting me know what you think.
The whole point is to help people:
- play more courses
- meet more golfers
- and keep the golf community going
