An NRI’s Property Selling Journey on Magicbricks, Housing & Nobroker
One of my NRI clients from United States owned an apartment in Bengaluru which he had purchased as a long-term investment. Since he was settled abroad, he initially planned to rent it out for steady monthly income while the property value appreciated over time.
In the beginning, things seemed manageable, but gradually handling the property from another country became difficult. His previous tenant did not maintain the apartment well, rent payments were sometimes delayed, and after the tenant moved out, several maintenance issues had to be taken care of. Managing repairs, coordinating with the apartment association, and handling regular follow-ups from overseas slowly became exhausting.
After dealing with these challenges for quite some time, he started thinking seriously about selling the property. However, being an NRI, he was unsure about the right process and how to manage everything smoothly while staying abroad. He began speaking with friends and local contacts to understand the best way to sell the property and reach genuine buyers.
Like most property owners today, he listed the apartment on Magicbricks, Housing, and Nobroker to get better visibility online. The property received good interest and multiple enquiries, but managing everything remotely still required a lot of coordination. There were calls from interested buyers, property visit requests, pricing discussions, and document-related conversations happening almost every day.
During one of our conversations, he said,
“Selling a property while living abroad is not simple. You need proper guidance and someone reliable to help manage the process on the ground.”
For many NRIs, the real challenge is not just finding a buyer it’s handling the entire selling process smoothly while being miles away from India.
