This is beyond ridiculous.
My Pixel 9 started failing after a security update. The phone does not wake properly, keeps turning off, and needs hard resets. I took it to the authorized Google service center in Ahmedabad, and they identified a motherboard issue — the actual defect. But instead of repairing the warranty issue, they are refusing to fix it unless I first pay ₹4,800 for a back-cover replacement because of a tiny cosmetic mark that is barely visible.
Their own staff admitted that the back-panel mark is not the cause of the motherboard failure. So why are they using it as a condition to deny warranty service?
On top of that:
- I was made to wait for hours.
- They tried to charge ₹850 as diagnostic fees.
- One staff member wiped my device without my permission.
- I’ve asked them to preserve CCTV footage from the visit.
This feels like a textbook case of deficiency in service and unfair trade practice under Indian consumer law. They are clearly trying to force me to pay for unrelated cosmetic damage just to get the actual warranty repair done.
Has anyone successfully escalated against Google/F1 in India for this kind of nonsense? I’m ready to go to Google escalation, consumer helpline, and eDaakhil if needed.
