Wondering what peoples thoughts are on this. Gravestone of Knight Dieter Von Hohenberg around 1380. I noticed though that the maile does not look like it's attached to the bascinet. Second pic you can see there is a clear gap between the bascinet and the maile. So I'm wondering if this Knight may have worn a Coif still? I thought by this period coifs were largely phased out so I was intrigued by the maile configuration in this piece. Other thought was it's an aventail just attached on the inside of the bascinet. Let me know what you think.
