Recommendations for types of armor and where to get them for a lesbian wedding

Hello!

In case it wasn't obvious, I'm someone who is pretty new to all of this, but has always had an interest in armor. I'm 31F, and engaged to my fiancee (28F). Our wedding is going to be extremely unconventional, because that's just how we are as people. For example, we are getting married on exactly Halloween (next year) and our reception is going to be basically a big awesome Halloween party.

I've been sort of struggling with what I want to wear to the wedding lately (I'm plus-sized and generally wear an XL in most clothing at this point, and my self-esteem isn't great, even though I've always dreamed of wearing knight's armor), and I think that this might even be something that ends up making me feel even more comfortable on the day of. And obviously, this is just for the ceremony and photos and things like that. I will likely have another (more casual and easy to move around in) change of clothing to wear that night/the reception we do itself.

Does anyone have any ideas for what type of armor would look coolest or just be really interesting in this type of scenario/any ideas about where to get those things? I'm really sort of starting at the ground level here, and wanted to see if anyone with practical knowledge about this had any ideas or suggestions! My fiancee will likely be dressed in a more princess-y looking outfit, for reference, but we haven't fully brainstormed about that yet (this is a pretty new idea that we're just sort of feeling out right now).

For types of designs we're interested in, I really enjoyed seeing Chappell Roan's Good Luck Babe performance (example shown below) a couple of years ago in armor. I thought that was really cool looking, and would obviously kind of fit the occasion! I'm not totally married (heh) to that look though, it's just sort of one potential jumping off point, I guess!

Thank you so much in advance for any help that you can give me! If anyone has any more questions, I would be glad to answer them!

Greenwich armor cosplay prrogress.

Nearly there on the chestplate. Managed to cut the sterl, punch the "rivet" holes, vinyl up and now paint up most of the plates for the base curas, will have to get the red leather for the top binding soon. Managed to disassemble door hinges for playe connectors at the waist. Biggest problem was painting middle decor, the piece must be 2 plates, the decors aint symmetrical but must match ond another when combined.

Stainless steel covered in car vinyl plus painted with perm markers. Once the painting is done its the final translucent vinyl to secure it all up.

Best materials for armor?

Okay so I’m looking to either build a knight or a monster can suit as a first time build for a convention.. any ideas as to materials and their cost? I’m not looking to spend a ton of money as my parents aren’t very interested in me attending and are pretty much against it. So any cheap ideas my minimum wage would handle?

Thoughs on my armor?

I still need spaulders and sabatons but what do yall think about it currently

I don't know how historical a lot of it is so I am wanting to hear the good and bad parts of the kit so I can try to improve it

Edit: I forgot to mention the gauntlets and greaves were borrowed from a friend for the picture so I also would appreciate recommendations on getting some Would need to be usable in Harnischfechten also

Hello guys! After some time, I am sharing with you some great images of the knee armor I crafted in my workshop using 16-gauge stainless steel.

I think I might have polished them a bit too much. 😂

I've been experimenting with a darker fantasy-inspired armor style and wanted to see how it comes across to people who know armor better than I do.

I'm especially interested in the silhouette, proportions, and overall design rather than historical accuracy.

What works here, and what would you change to make it look more convincing?

What would a Scott who could afford chainmail, and wielding a Big Sword (Claymore) have worn with it?

I've been hunting for answers on this. It appears the popularity of the claymore century wise was late enough for plates and brigandines, but from what google turns up, this type of armor would not have been prevalent in the highlands. I have a sword and hauberk, and want to put something together more rather than less historical that I could incorporate what I already have. Anyone know of any artwork or engravings that would depict such a thing? And please don't let this devolve into; Actually, a claymore is a basket hilt sword... lol, I know.

Fantasy Writer Looking for an Armor Consultant/Collaborator

Hi everyone! I’m a writer currently revising an adult epic fantasy novel, and I’m looking for someone who’s knowledgeable about armor. (I know absolutely nothing.)

The armor in my world is definitely fantasy in style, not historically exact, but I want it to feel believable and grounded in real-world principles. I have a general idea but so far I feel like when I want to get descriptive I struggle to narrow it down, I now want a very clear picture. I’m hoping to find someone who enjoys discussing armor and wouldn’t mind answering questions, giving feedback, or any input as I refine my designs. I’m passionate about my book so I’d be looking for someone who’s passionate as well and easy to talk to. :)

If that sounds interesting, feel free to comment or send me a DM!

Anyone have any experience ordering from Matuls.pl?

As the title suggest I'm curious to see if there's people who've had experience ordering from Matuls. I'm looking to buy a bascinet for reenactment. Whilst on the pricier side these do seem to be high quality. Can anyone attest to anything they've made? How responsive are they and do they have long waiting times?

Anyone had any experience with HBC as a seller?

Recently had an Etsy seller go under (they seemed legit with various reviews and photos from buyers etc) but regardless I managed to get a full refund no issue.

So I’m looking for reputable sellers with custom sizing etc.

HBC has a very nice klappvisor Bascinet with both styles of visor (Houndskull and klappvisor) - anyone had any experience with this seller/company?

What would a relatively poor German man-at-arms wear in the 1300s-1400s?

Not a wealthy knight or a peasant soldier, but a career warrior who serves a knight or lord and is well equipped enough. What type of helmets, gauntlets, and body armor would have been available to someone of that station?

Examples from any german-speaking country in the era are fine!
