Space for padding in a 16th Century Closed helmet?

What is the spacing needed in a helmet for its padding you request when commissioning a 16th century closed helmet/articulating gorget setup for harness fencing? I only have Buhurt helmets and just paid a couple thousand dollars for a dedicated historical/harness fencing helmet so I want this one to be right. This helmet requires me putting in my own liners/padding; I'll want a close fit, and have many different thicknesses of shocktec air2gel foam rolls available for safety and medium dense sponge neoprene foam rolls for comfort.
