3rd floor laundry conversion
Bought a new home and the laundry room is in the unfinished part of the basement. That’s the set up we have now…. And…. I…. HATE…. It!!
I’ve been looking at ventless combo machines (specifically the GE Profile 4.6 cu ft one) and have a crazy idea to put it in my master closet! It runs on 120v and the shared wall backs up to our master bath.
Husband wants to hire a structural engineer to make sure the 3rd floor can handle it. I’m going to rip out the carpet, do waterproof rigid core LVP, anti vibration mat with a drain pan. I’m going to have to hire a plumber for the drain and water hook ups and an electrician for an outlet.
Am I crazy? We’re not doing laundry at 11pm so I don’t care if it’s a little loud during the day. Having washer/ dryer access upstairs where the clothes are will be a HUGE help for me! There’s also no real place to put the machine aside from our closet! It’s medium/ large and the room is big enough it can handle a dresser or two from any space we will be losing. I don’t even care about ROI, when we sell I’ll change it all back if they want!
Is a structural engineer warranted? Is there anything else I’m not thinking of? (Also, I know the reviews of the machine and am fully willing to deal with long load times and cleaning out lint traps after each use! That’s how badly I don’t wanna go back to the basement set up!!)
