Mum is struggling with stairs, stairlift rental or buy?

My mum is 78, lives alone in her own house. She has arthritis and almost fell on the stairs last week. I don't live nearby and I'm worried.

I don't want to spend £3000 on a new stairlift if she only needs it for a year or two. But I also don't want a cheap used one that breaks.

A neighbour told me about Halton Stairlifts. They do rental with no minimum contract. Also do next day fitting. That sounds perfect for our situation.

Has anyone rented a stairlift for an elderly parent? Was it worth it? And has anyone used Halton specifically? They seem to have good reviews but I want real opinions. Thanks for any advice and guidance.
