Do vets get tired of frequent clients?
We have two senior cats who have had an absurd number of issues over the past two years. They are major issues, not minor things that we make a big deal out of, like URIs, severe constipation, fever of unknown origin, cystitis, etc. Our cats are indoor only and UTD on vaccines and we try to take very good care of them. We follow recommendations and spend a ton of money.
However, our vet and staff seem constantly annoyed by us. Lately it’s been bad, we’ve had to visit about weekly and we have back-and-forth emails roughly daily about medications or results. Then something else pops up and we have to get help for that. It’s not fun for us either, we’ve gotten to the point that we dread visits and even medication pick up and really reaching out to them about anything. We discuss the pros and cons of reaching out before we do but we feel like it’s negligent to have a cat have some of these issues and not seek help.
Our vet gets glowing reviews but we don’t feel like we get the same treatment as everyone else. Maybe it’s because we have cats and most of the patients are dogs. But it feels like our vet just goes through the motions with us and is often short. Sometimes it feels like there are shortcuts with the medicine.
Do you all get tired of clients that you have to deal with on a daily basis because they have multiple pets with frequent and/or chronic issues? What can we do differently to not be annoying?
