Movie recommendations from your countries

I would love to have list of balkan movies I should watch to broaden my perspective.

You can suggest whatever you want I am very open minded. The point is to better understand mentality of neighbourhood countries. You can suggest something political too. I would love to see your country representation of historical events as well, but I’m mostly into artistic movies with accent on heavy emotions.

Videos which will improve my before stage, on stage and after stage performance

Hey dear singers!

I would like to ask for your help once again. I realized that I need help with preparation before performing, during the performance itself, and after the performance.

  1. Since I consider myself a baritone (whom professors have classified as a dramatic tenor), I'd like to ask you for suggestions on warm-ups and pre-stage stretching and preparation for a performance.

Do you have any YouTube clips that you play for yourself before a performance, to warm up / stretch / get into the right emotion / etc.?

  1. I've realized lately that I often feel uncomfortable on stage – in the sense that I sway a little left and right and move around because I find it really uncomfortable to just stand and sing. That's why I'd like to ask if you have any clips that teach stage presence and how to gain extra points from the audience that way.

Do you have any suggestions for male performers/dancers who were excellent on stage in terms of dance/movement? How do you deal with this?

  1. What do you do after each performance? Do you have any suggestions for YouTube videos that specifically deal with that?

For example, I use a straw to relax my voice. I listen back to how I performed the song. I call friends and talk to them about everything...

I'm asking you all of this because I'd like to apply for an audition for a show that's relatively popular in my country after this summer.

  1. I'll start training more regularly (so that my muscles can keep up with my voice and its demands)
  2. I'd like to keep a singing journal where I'll write down all the difficulties and good things during practice (I found a template online and I have adjusted it a bit and I'll leave it in the comments, so you can also check it out and share your opinion about it)
  3. I'll try out different genres and try to find songs that would best showcase me as a singer and performer

I need your opinion and advices for this problems I’m facing lately

I’ve been singing for several years, developing a bel canto technique, and I’m currently learning to sing pop/rock songs. Most of my teachers have classified me as a dramatic tenor, while only one teacher suggested that I might be a lyric baritone. Here are the problems I’m facing right now and I would need your help with it…

  1. Sometimes, although very rarely, it feels as if my voice “wakes up,” and I can sing high notes with real ease. The problem is that I can’t control when this happens.

The best way I can describe this “waking up” sensation is that there seems to be a wall preventing me from reaching higher notes. If, through warm-ups and exercises, I manage to work around that wall and “wake up” my voice, it feels as though I’ve jumped over it and can suddenly sing much more freely and beautifully.

What I’d like to ask is: do you have any advice on how to deal with this and learn to consistently get past that “wall”? Does anyone else have that same sensation?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from male singers, since I believe they might better understand this experience due to the similarities in vocal anatomy.

  1. Another issue I have is how strongly my voice reacts to fatigue. I simply can’t sing well unless I get at least eight hours of sleep, and sometimes I need even more than that.

How can I overcome this problem?

I’m always trying to sleep as much as possible but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to be enough. Sometimes even if I sleep for 3 extra hours it’s not enough for my voice to feel good.

2.1) I have enlarged tonsils, and when I was younger, doctors considered removing them. Lately, I’ve been wondering whether they might be contributing to my fatigue and making it even harder for me to sing well.

Once I showed them to my professor and she started asking me questions like: how do I even breathe with them enlarged like that…

  1. I don’t have a consistent practice routine, and I’m not sure how to build one. I’d love to hear about your singing routines, how often you practice, and what has worked best for you.

I tried few things but nothing felt like a good practice routine. I didn’t feel that I was improving that much with that specific practice. I always feel like I’m improving only on classes with professors.

Do you have some advices?

Thank you in advance for any advice or experiences you can share.

(EDIT: I’m not searching for medical advices about my tonsils. I just mentioned it and I will soon enough go to the specialist)
