Finding this subreddit felt like a breath of fresh air. In the main sub, the amount of unnecessary hate toward Horikita was honestly discouraging. It often felt like people were determined to overlook her growth and achievements, or judge her without giving her character the depth she deserves. So stumbling upon a place where people genuinely appreciate her was a relief. 😊

What made me even happier was realizing that many of you here seem to be light‑novel readers. Even though I haven’t read any of the books myself, I still feel connected to this community because I read a lot of fanfiction about her, and I especially love the New York theory. I even write one myself. I believe we can all agree that much of her potential is written between the lines. 😇🙏

And yet, I am saddened by the blatant disrespect some here still show toward her obvious accomplishments, as if her potential wasn't worth acknowledging. I hope this post encourages you to reflect on yourself as a fan. 😔😔

In the past, I crafted a spoiler‑free strategy inspired by Horikita’s logic and reasoning, shaping it around the flow of the anime to set her on a clear path toward reaching Class A. At the time, I understood Horikita, yet I failed to save her heart. But the second year finally gave me a chance. A chance to undo the decisions I had made. So, I began. Over and over again, I repeated and corrected every mistake. Before I knew it, I had lost count. I revised it over one hundred times. And yet there was still a place I wanted to reach, a wish I wanted to protect. No matter what, I had to save her heart. That is why I forged this path.

I’ve noticed that every time the topic of “who’s the GOAT” comes up, the discussion immediately turns into a mess of personal opinions and subjective criteria. Some people focus on raw skill, others on strategy, others on charisma or popularity, but none of that really settles anything.

So I decided to make this post to end the debate once and for all, using only canon anime knowledge. No speculation, no personal bias, just facts straight from the source material. So I was looking up who Kushida loves because she is the kindest girl as we all agree, and Google straight up showed me a result that looked like a spoiler about Kushida x Horikita endgame. 😭😭😭

I’m trying to figure out if this is actually legit or not. I also read somewhere that Horikita kneeled down before Kushida and told her to stay by her side. I hope that’s not true because… isn’t that basically proposing?

I created this comparison a few months ago, but the tone was not serious enough for me to feel comfortable posting it here. I have now rewritten it to be as factual and unbiased as possible.

It is my structured comparison of Horikita and Ayanokoji, based strictly on canon material from the anime. No one can find here any emotional bias. Although it may appear at times that I am favoring Ayanokoji, that is not my intention.

I finally started the show after my friend kept insisting for days. After the first episode last week, I told him I really liked Kushida. She’s gentle, kind, and always trying her best to get along with everyone. Just seeing her makes my heart feel calm.

But after I said that, he started sending me photos from later episodes and telling me things I was not prepared for 😭😭😭

The first photo he sent was of Kushida with this evil black‑haired girl. He said they knew each other before high school, and that this girl used to make Kushida run errands for her. Apparently Kushida is terrible at saying no, so she ended up doing everything she was told. Hearing that made me feel uneasy, especially since I had just started getting attached to her 😔😔

Then he sent the second photo. He said it was from a point where she’s been bullied for a long time. She looks completely worn down, depressed, barely holding herself together. Seeing that image before even reaching those episodes made me cry. He told me she starts to get a little better before high school, but still… it hurts to see 😢

The third photo he sent was even worse. He said that when Kushida entered high school, she ended up in the same class with that evil girl. He told me Kushida tries to smile and act like she’s moved on, but that girl is still obsessed with her and wants to break her completely. I told him the school seems normal so far, but he said it’s actually like the Kakegurui anime… everything is twisted underneath, and the real theme gets revealed later.

Then he mentioned another girl named Ibuki, a blue‑haired, kind‑hearted girl who’s gentle and delicate, similar to Rem from Re:Zero. He said things get complicated between the three of them, and that the black‑haired girl even invites them to her room often for her twisted desires.

And today he sent me the last photo. He said Kushida eventually goes to Ayanokoji, this gullible‑looking MC, for help before she collapses emotionally. For a moment I felt relieved, like maybe she finally had someone who genuinely cared. But then he told me Ayanokoji is constantly being manipulated by the black‑hearted girl and her brother. He said the brother is actually kind, but he still believes in his sister’s potential. And since he knows that no one would willingly stay by her side due to her twisted personality, he’s doing everything he can to make sure she doesn’t end up alone 😢

Later, this black‑hearted girl forces Ayanokoji to team up with a street‑hardened criminal who started her “career” even before high school. They later bully a disabled girl until she drops out of high school 😭😭😭

It even gets worse. I learned that the evil girl is even more twisted than I thought. She has never considered Ayanokoji an ally… not him, not Kushida, not even her own brother. People are nothing but tools to her. She doesn’t care what she has to do… she doesn’t care what she has to sacrifice. In that world, winning is everything. As long as she wins… that’s all that matters...

I haven’t even passed episode 2, but now all of this is stuck in my head. Can someone please tell me if she gets better? I don’t want to drop the show, but I really don’t want my heart broken again 😭😭😭
