NMN vs NR for NAD+ precursor supplementation, what does the current research actually say?

This debate keeps coming up but most of it online is brand driven rather than science driven so wanted to bring it here.

Both are NAD+ precursors but take different pathways. There's still debate around whether NMN has a direct cellular transporter or converts to NR first. On the human trial side a 2022 Nature Aging study showed NMN increased NAD+ in older men at 250mg but separate research suggests you probably need closer to 1000mg for meaningful elevation which makes me think most people are just underdosing.

The bigger unanswered question for me is tissue specificity. Blood NAD+ levels don't necessarily reflect what's happening in muscle, brain or liver which is where it actually matters for longevity outcomes

I have been experimenting with Welzo NMN Pro 1000 specifically because the dosing sits at 1000mg which seems more in line with what the higher dose trials were using.

Has anyone seen recent studies measuring tissue specific NAD+ rather than just blood markers? That feels like where the research needs to go.
