The Dino

After playing as and against Devil Dinosaur more over the last few days, I kind of get both sides of the argument now.

When your team supports him and plays around him, he feels insanely strong and honestly really fun to play. Especially into defensive tanks or dive overall. If you bodyguard your supports well, dives get shut down unless the enemy team is extremely coordinated. One or two dives is pretty easily shut down by Dino.

But when Dino dies, it feels like your whole team suddenly loses its center. More than any tank (maybe any hero) in any hero shooter I’ve played. The pressure, chaos, and attention he creates for both friendlies and enemies just disappear instantly and the game feels completely different. It is stark contrast, and while I don’t think it lowers the skill ceiling of other players like some have suggested, a Devil Dinosaur game feels very different than one without him, and we will be seeing him in every game for a while (unless banned in comp obviously).

I do think he changes the flow of the game a little too much sometimes, but I’m still not convinced he’s actually overpowered. He has a ton of health (his damage blocked numbers are out of control), he can knock flyers down, he has a shorter "Rogue stun", and his shield is pretty effective.

But if the supports aren't looking at him, he can absolutely explode with his hit box. It makes you have to play him with some forethought, like a more forgiving Wolverine.

Tl;dr I think he's a great, unique hero, really fun to play, but has a massive effect on games that I don't think is fixed by nerfing him into oblivion.
