Not all tank mains are good people

I get winning is all that matters but you could be solo tanking against two tanks and they’ll see what you are playing and say “the win isn’t easy enough let’s counter his pick too”. Son wtf do you mean you switched to Peni to counter my solo tanking Thor, just don’t even bother using the lube man stick it in raw whydoncha 😭😭💔

What are your expectations/wants for tanks next season?

The rumor is the Hood is going to be a Vanguard and that’s nice but seeing that we got Devil Dino and it didn’t go quite as expected we should probably be cautious about what to expect.

I wouldn’t mind some reworks or buffs to make vanguard more appealing. Hopefully Hood or whoever is indeed a vanguard and it’s a less awkward fit than Dino.

Vanguards need Armor!

I'm not talking about the X-man (even though she'd be a cool addition). I am talking about that beautiful section of orange health in another hero shooter.

Armor is great, and I realized that if we had it, it would help ease the burden of many of the issues the role has. For those who don't know, armor is healed in the same amount of time as normal health, but reduces the damage of attacks dealt to it by 7, and up to a maximum of 50%.

This let's Vanguards be tankier, without needing healthbars that take far too long to heal back to maximum.

What do you think? And which Vanguards do you think need Armor in Marvel Rivals?

Tank suggestion: Miss America

I haven’t seen people talk about her enough but I also the movie (Multiverse of Madness) didn’t do her justice. I think Miss America would be a great Vanguard. She would probably play very similar to Rouge. What do yall think?

How can I improve?

I’ve been finally getting into competitive I’ve never done competitive besides last night.

I’m literally in bronze and losing a lot my games. So it has to be a me issue atp.
While this is the first pvp gave I’ve ever played and I have only recently really gotten into gaming I feel like I’m better than bronze.

If anyone wants to watch some of my gameplay recaps and critique me please do.

Quickplay people piss me off by not trying but I’m not good enough to play competitive apparently..

Again I’ve only like really tried at competitive last night. I’ve dabbled in it a few times in past seasons as a support main. But this was my first time since becoming a tank main.

With this game in particular at first I was solo tank Emma which I’m not that good at Emma to solo tank so I switched to groot.
I was solo tank for maybe half the game then the other person went Emma.
I know I died ALOT and that could have been from me pushing too far? Sometimes I do that and I’ve been working on it. I honestly don’t know what we did wrong here. No one was blatantly bad here if anything again I feel I’m at fault no assists as groot and only 14 kills.

While this could have just been a bad day for competitive it definitely still hurt. Again I really feel like I’m better than this and that’s what’s so frustrating.

How To Solo Offtank?

With fewer and fewer people willing to play tank, I got tired of being forced onto Magneto Strange etc almost every ranked game.

I started playing solo off-tank instead and eventually peaked Celestial I using this playstyle. It's definitely not something you can blindly pick every match, but if you understand when it works, it can be a really strong alternative.

I made a guide covering the decision-making, hero choices, and the situations where solo off-tank is actually the better option.

Is it bad that I don’t play any dps and don’t want to.

For some context I only really play strategists and vanguard in quick play and ranked (I’m in plat 3 rn, I started playing 5 months ago). The only times I play dps is when I think they could be fun but I never really get farther than a few hours. To me the dps role always just seems like too much pressure and abilities, especially if you look at newer releases like black cat. While a tank like Thor acts similar to a dps I enjoy playing tanks because of their large health and survivability. Anyways, next season I would like to go for a higher rank, I think I’ll aim for diamond 3 but I really just don’t know if only knowing 2 roles is enough. Although dps is the most picked role leaving much leeway for me to choose whoever I want, I still am unsure if I need to learn a dps or not. I’ve tried every single one and I kinda hate them all. I would only learn a dps if I really needed to.

What do y’all think?

Shield tanks do NOT counter poke, any tank player knows this

Especially in rivals where an Emma or Strange shield instantly blows up, shield are used at high level play as merely a brief counter to block key abilities. Nobody is walking their team down a choke behind a held shield, yes that includes mag shield with infinite hp.

Both supps down but me + hulk have enough self sustain to win a 2v5 in overtime

Love tanking w another tank that’s willing to walk shit down and not babysit.

Hero Fantasy Tierlist (UPD)

Got feedback. Made some updates. 60 ppl didn’t like it last time but I’m right about everything. Notice how nobody said ANYTHING about Rocket. That’s cuz they know I’m right.

Rank adjustments:

Cyclops bumped down.

Hela bumped down.

Cap knocked down.

Venom raised up.

Reed still can’t stretch his legs (no change).

New rankings:

Angela ranked (congratulations on S tier*).

DvD ranked (congratulations Big Ahh Dinosaur).

Carnage ranked (can’t go liquid mode).

Cloak ranked (can’t go invisible… teleport… or shield).

Captain Falcon ranked.

Nova ranked (need feedback).

Still need feedback on the heroes with lore I’m unfamiliar with. Do any Nova mains have opinions on how well the devs fulfilled his hero fantasy?

For those who don’t understand the Cyclops ranking:

• His kinetic energy beams got changed to lasers. (Even if they say otherwise. His primary functions just like Ultron except for headshots)

• He can’t lead the way.

• Using his kinetic energy beams to push people around has for the most part been ignored by the devs in exchange for just using them to dmg

• lacks his super endurance

• lacks his super durability

• has no ability to frequently push himself around using his kinetic energy beams because the one ability he has to do that is on a 12s cooldown rather than a meter, meaning if you do want to do a quick side dash… you can’t do it again for 12 seconds. In fantasy you’d be able to reposition short distances on repeat aiming where you want to move away from for high octane evasion (and your meter would run out in game eventually). (Iron Fist does this a bit but dodges towards where he is aiming)

• enemies walking into Cyclops secondary aren’t even being pushed back. Cyclops is able to use that beam to force even Juggernaut back. But in Rivals it’s just a laser so… whoopty

Why do they only want to play Vanguard for the last 30 seconds?

Don't worry about the Jeff in the back, he has water and his favorite chew toy.

Which tank has the most explosive, impactful engage?

I say Thing with his enemy hop+haymaker>melee>melee>instant yancy street charge>team hop is very strong. But Rogue is a very close second.
