CAD Design - Would love feedback!
Hi there! We just got the CAD back for my ring. Overall I'm in love, but I have a few questions and want to be sure I'm thinking about/asking the right things. (Ring size 7.75, center stone is 2ct.)
- I was surprised by the collet setting, as this wasn't something I thought we had discussed. I think they probably added it because I talked about wanting something that was very secure. I don't mind it necessarily, but I wonder if it will limit how much the diamond sparkles? Should I ask for the diamond to sit a little higher/collet to be a little lower as a compromise between security and sparkle? Or potentially get rid of the collet and ask for v-shaped prongs on all sides (which is what I thought we had discussed)?
- The CAD is not as sparkly as other sample CADs from the same jeweler - is that just a symptom of the CAD itself, and not reflective of what the ring will look like? Or should I be asking for something different in the setting to allow for more sparkle?
- Does anyone have tips on how to work with the iJewel CAD? I would love to be able to get the tool to show me the actual size of the ring so I could compare to my finger. I have tried a few times to adjust and print to the correct size, and I really have not had much luck. I wish they provided something to measure against in the model.
- I am still waffling between a 2ct and 2.5-3ct. I included shots of a 2ct on my finger and a 3ct. Anyone have input? I don't want to go too big, but I have larger fingers and worry that the 2ct looks underwhelming on me.
Thanks for all the feedback! I really do love what they've sent overall. This is probably the biggest jewelry purchase we'll ever make, so want to make sure we're covering all the bases!
