Mixed religion marriage need advice (Muslim/catholic)
So I'm (f) catholic. My husband is Muslim. We're having a son. In general our attitude to religion is we give the teachings of both and let the child decide.
He obviously wants infant circumcision in line with his religion and culture. I am not opposed to circumcision in general but I strongly feel that it should be our child's choice.
I have researched and found in many islamic cultures it's done 9-12 when they understand and have read the Qur'an. Id much prefer this. And I'm under the belief that if my husband teaches and raises him to understand he'll also want it done if he chooses to follow islam.
The arguments are endless so I'm seeking advice.
Is what I've researched correct, that there is no specified age in the Qur'an for circumcision to be done, and there would be no harm waiting until later childhood once he can understand and consent to the process?
And has anyone had a circumsicion around this age and been okay? Generally only hear about medical emergency circumcision in older childhood so unsure how a routine one would go.
