GSU Medical Withdrawal Petition How Long Does Processing Take and Will Dean of Students Be Active This Summer?

I’m a student at GSU and I recently submitted a medical withdrawal petition for Spring 2026. I submitted it yesterday, May 18. I’m being treated at a cancer institute for a chronic illness and my doctor determined I needed to switch to fully online courses. I didn’t include my specific diagnosis in the petition but I did include documentation from my providers.

A few questions for anyone familiar with GSU or similar situations:

1.	How long does it typically take for the Dean of Students office to process a medical withdrawal petition?
2.	Are administrative offices like Dean of Students still actively working during the summer, or does processing slow down?
3.	I previously had the |-|ope Scholarship and Pel. Because of my medical situation my GPA was impacted and I received two F’s. What is the deadline for FA awards like |-|ope and Pel to be finalized for summer semester, and is there any way to appeal the loss of |-|ope due to a medical hardship?

I’m trying to figure out if I can expect a response before summer session starts in June and whether my FA situation can be salvaged. Thank you.
