Michael Jackson was weird as fuck.
An understatement, honestly.
If Michael Jackson wasn’t Michael Jackson, I’m almost certain everybody would’ve believed the (NUMEROUS) allegations held against him. How does a man face several civil lawsuits and two major criminal investigations over child molestation (one of which he got ARRESTED for and was only ever released because he was acquitted by jury in 2005) and not face ANY scrutiny? I won’t go as far as to say he was molesting kids for the soul sake that he was never criminally charged for it, that’s my benefit of the doubt, but it would be arbitrary to think that he was this innocent saint who’s immune to criticism and totally not weird at all. I dead ass seen people on TikTok say Michael Jackson created Neverland to save kids from Epstein Island😭😭😭 (As if Neverland, though… ‘tamer’, isn’t somewhat comparable to Epstein Island and the fact that there’s Photo of them together at Epstein’s Palm Beach house in ~2002-2003.) It’s peak cope; reframe boundary-crossing behavior (the Neverland “I love kids, come sleep with me” shit) as noble eccentricity or secret heroism. I just wish people would stop ignoring the red flags on Jackson that would be blasted if it were seen on anyone else. The out of court settlements he made (a “civil agreement” worth $23 million in January 1994 to resolve a child sexual abuse lawsuit filed by 13-year-old Jordan Chandler which really just sounds like hush money), the trial testimonies, etc.
Surely I’m not the only one who thinks this.
It’s just… a grown man routinely having unrelated children sleep in his bedroom, building an amusement-park estate centered around child fantasy aesthetics, surrounding himself almost exclusively with children, and repeatedly ending up in abuse allegations across decades should trigger massive alarm bells for anyone else. That’s just reality.
