Looking for a hobby
Ladies and gents and all in between,
I am looking for a hobby that keeps me in shape that isn’t like a traditional workout. I can’t stay focused or motivated if I’m just lifting weights in a gym or doing an elliptical. I can’t do it. Not for me.
I’m not in great shape, so preferably a hobby that doesn’t require me to be Captain America is great. Other than that, I’m open to anything. Preferably gets me outside, but that isn’t a necessity. I’m fairly adventurous so if it’s a bit weird I’m fine with that, too.

Third Quarter Quell Tribute Names
It occurred to me the other day that not all of the 75th Games tributes have names. So I thought, ‘they are all kind of important, being the only tributes to fight in two Games AND to be reaped for the final one’.
So I gave them names.
(Plus, I’m already planning the 75th Games chapter in my Woof fanfic, RIP).
What do you make of ‘em?

Yep. That’s what I’m looking for.
A fanfic where Woodbine, Wyatt, Maysilee, and Louella are the tributes for the Second Quarter Quell.
Preferably extends from the 50th to the 75th Games, but I’m down for one that’s just about his time in the 50th Games.
Does this even exist??? Because if it doesn’t, I’ll write it when I’m done with my Woof fanfic.

This is for nothing other than to share… District 1 is SO hard to name because you don’t want them to be gimmicky and ridiculous. But it’s also quite to fun to name for that exact reason!

My favorite is probably Marvel. It’s the least ridiculous of them all. I mean, it’s certainly better than Panache and Palladium.

Surnames in Panem
We talk a lot about first names here on this sub, but I was wondering about y’all’s surnames you’ve given characters - how do you decide surnames? Do you give specific districts specific kinds of surnames? Like does District 3 get French last names, does District 1 get Italian last names, etc.?
I’m just wondering.

Do these seem like reasonable tribute names?
I’m writing a fanfic on the 19th Hunger Games and stylists and escorts are all University interns. Victors aren’t full-blown mentors yet, but are forced to go to the Capitol anyway.
The numbers by each tribute’s name is their age.
Pre-11th Games Victors are also not invited to the Games since they aren’t ‘civilized’ enough.

How to depict canon characters in a fanfic?
So as to not break any rules, I’ll give some basic facts without revealing much: it’s in the 19th Hunger Games, it’s about Woof (who is basically just a name in the books), and these are the characters I’m struggling to depict:
Tigris
Mags
Snow (briefly, he’s a Gamemaker)
Lucky Flickerman
Whenever I try to the write scenes they’re in, I just sit back and think, ‘huh. That doesn’t sound like them.’
Any advice? Have you ever wrote on any of these characters in this era?
