I’ve rewatched Babylon 5 multiple times over the years, on VHS, DVD & now Blu-ray. But I only ever had the movies on VHS back in the day, so consequently hadn’t seen them in literally decades. Just picked up the DVD’s and just watched Thirdspace.
I don’t see it get talked about much. I’d honestly forgotten most of it, just had a vague memory of the gist of what happened - weird alien artefact does weird alien stuff. But after having just rewatched it I thought it was pretty great and actually very significant in the overall lore/mythos of the B5 universe. The Vorlons go searching for their “Gods” and uncover a race even more powerful and ancient than they are!!! A race that lives in an alternate realm, the access to which could revolutionise interstellar travel and have a major impact on the balance of power in the galaxy. I mean holy shit. It’s kinda a shame this was a one and done, as there seems to be a ton of scope and potential. I wish they’d expanded this into season 5, instead of the rubbish telepath arc. It could have provided a suitably epic conclusion to the series following the Shadow war and Earth war. What does everyone else think about the movie, and the potential wider implications??
