Everstone: Within the Everstone walls of the Citadel, children from outlying villages are injected with a serum and deployed as weapons.  The Council calls it a cure.  

Ayla is the Grand Architect’s daughter, a Junior Ambassador who unknowingly sources raw materials for the serum that drives the Asset program. With her mentor, she secretly practices forbidden earth-based Weaver magic, protected by the privileges afforded to her as a Silk.

Asset 3 has spent five years as the Citadel's most lethal Asset.  Nameless, even to himself, he survives through discipline, obedience, and medically induced dissociation.  Completely disconnected from his humanity, he uses his enhanced abilities to catalog the world through military duty logs and biometric scans - until she cuts through the static and his conditioning starts to glitch.

Ayla must confront the harm beneath the privileges she has benefited from, while Asset 3 must decide if survival is worth the price of his humanity - and whether either of them can bear what it will cost to love the other.
