The Shifting Community Is Sleeping on Lucid Dreaming
I honestly don’t understand why more people in the shifting community don’t just use lucid dreaming as a stepping stone to shift reality instead of constantly scrolling TikTok/ShiftTok/Tumblr/Reddit asking for advice from people who already successfully shifted.
From what I’ve seen, lucid dreaming is actually not that hard to develop. A lot of people report getting their first lucid dream within a few weeks or a month of practice. Meanwhile, you’ll see people saying they’ve been trying to shift for years without results.I’ve also seen a lot of comments where people say they’ve successfully lucid dreamed way more often than people who say they’ve successfully shifted, which kind of says a lot about how accessible lucid dreaming actually is
What I’ve also noticed is that when people do try using lucid dreaming as a shifting method, they usually rely on things like portals or doors inside dreams. And a lot of them say they end up failing and just end up in another dream instead. So personally, I wouldn’t rely on that approach.
I use lucid dreaming for shifting differently. I wouldn’t expect portals or external symbols to do the work.
Instead, I’d either:
- Expect myself to wake up directly in my DR after becoming lucid, then lie down inside the dream and wake up there
- Or let the dream environment destabilize (like floors sink ) and naturally shift into my DR self dream
- Or use lucid dreaming as a way to enter the void state, then shift from there
Not only that, once you actually develop lucid dreaming skills, you gain access to way more than just shifting realities . You can also explore things like astral projection, entering the void state more easily, manifest, communicating with your subconscious mind. And honestly, lucid dreaming on its own is already an experience worth practicing. It’s fun, immersive, and feels like a full adventure every time. You can control the dream you can fly, teleport, spawn people literally you can do all if not more just from thought . That’s why I don’t really get why more people don’t take the time to practice it consistently.
That’s just my approach. I feel like lucid dreaming is more practical as a bridge than people give it credit for.
WBTB for People Who Fall Asleep Before They Can Even Attempt MILD or SSILD
For people who instantly fall asleep during WBTB and struggle to stay aware long enough to actually do a technique like MILD or SSILD:
Try reducing your sleep pressure just slightly
. Sleep around 11:00–11:30 PM, then wake up after about 5–6 hours of sleep.
Stay awake for 15 minutes or less.
During those 15 minutes:
- Turn on a dim light
- Splash cold water on your face
- Walk around a little
- Recall your dreams if you want
- Drink a small amount of water
After that, make your bed slightly less comfortable so you don’t knock out immediately:
- Use a smaller pillow
- Use a different blanket that isn’t overly soft or cozy
- Try a different sleeping position that you won’t usually use to fall asleep with
You can also use a physical or sound anchor to help keep a small amount of awareness at the start of your technique.
And if you notice yourself naturally drifting to sleep while doing the technique, don’t fight it too hard. Let yourself fall asleep naturally while continuing the method.
This mainly helps people who lose consciousness before they even get the chance to properly attempt their technique during WBTB.
