[Highlight] When You Can Trade a Double Play for Just 1 Run ... But Then Remember You're Shohei Ohtani and Can Do Better!

Sometimes you immediately want to sacrifice the run to get the double play. But not Shohei.

Ohtani very quick and decisive in making his decision. Just another asset Ohtani has, instinct. The Presence of Mind to Whip and throw to 2nd Base and Get THAT OUT!

"He's Their Starting Pitcher, and He Just Homered to Start the Game!" [Padres TV and Radio Broadcast React to Ohtani's Home Run on the 1st Pitch of the Game]

Muncy Works the Count Full and Clutch Challenge to Overturn a STRIKEOUT into a WALK! (As the Dodgers Remember to Use Their ABS Challenges in the 9th Inning) [Padres and Dodgers Broadcasts]

Lost in the sauce of this Pages at Bat was how the Dodgers got there in the first place. Max Muncy's full-count challenge on what was originally a called strike 3 set this up and gave the Dodgers some much-needed momentum against Mason Miller.

Let's give Max Muncy some credit for even getting to a 3-2 count against Miller, as well as his good eye to not swing and also challenge Ball 4!

[Highlight] Angels Broadcast (TV and Radio Booth) Furiously React to Shohei Ohtani's 3-Run "Little League Home Run"

Everyone asking for the Angels Broadcast reaction and call to Ohtani's Little League Home Run. They were livid - both the TV and Radio Booth! 😡
(officially ruled as a triple + error on Joe Adell). Angels challenge that the ball hit the netting and is therefore a ground rule double, but call was confirmed after review.

Best Parts:
- 04:22 talking during Betts' AB. "If a ball was thrown into that net, it would be in play [Betts hits a home run] This won is NOT in play. Mookie Betts with a Home Run"
- 05:42 "This is like Arena Football"

[Highlight] MAX MUNCY WITH THE QUICK THROW to a STRETCHING DALTON RUSHING to GET THE OUT! (overturned on replay) Great Job by the Dodger 1st and 3rd Basemen!

Unlike a certain Texas Ranger position player Jung (remember last year), Max Muncy makes no assumptions and plays the ball as though it's fair - and throws a dart to Dalton who's stretches out to make the putout!

Good guy Betts invites Adames as a special guest on his On Base podcast being recorded during the 7th inning🤣 (Too bad Betts was such a mesmerising host that Adames got distracted and forgot how many outs there were!)

Again, the scorebug from the Dodgers feed being in the bottom right meant I didn't realise how chit chatty Adames and Betts were. In conjunction with Betts distracting Devers in an earlier at bat to cause a strikeout - I say that Betts gained +2 OAV this game alone!

Mookie Betts "Relaying Signs" from 2nd to Distract Devers. Ohtani then proceeds to Fold Devers on Strike 3! (Including Full Beachball-gate from Both Dodgers and Giants Broadcast)

Really interesting watching the Giants Booth point of view. They seem to completely miss the interaction between Betts and Devers, but instead have a good shot of the actual beachball which was censored in the Dodgers broadcast.

[Highlight] PAGES HAMMERS a 2-1 PITCH FOR A TWO-RUN HOME RUN! HIS 9TH OF THE YEAR!

Big Brain Pages chooses not to challenge what would be a 3-0 pitch, so he would instead getting a better 2-1 pitch to hit instead (maybe??) instead of tempting the pitcher to 4 pitch walk him - one of the most dangerous batters in the line up at the moment!

Has anyone else noticed that Yoshi is struggling a lot in the first inning of his outings - often giving up hard contact and earned runs, but then locking in.

This discrepancy is far greater than any other Dodger pitcher and also the league. The answer isn’t just “he’s facing their top 3 hitters in the first inning” - otherwise other pitchers would also have the same pattern of struggling in the 1st.

Why has Yoshi been touched up in the 1st - not only in the last couple of years, but also in 2026? Does this concern you in his Cy Young campaign?

Yes I know Game 7 of World Series ended on a double play - but that was a more routine 6-3 DP. Not rare like this video or yesterday’s 4 unassisted DP that ended the game vs the Marlins.

As a side note, row S and further (T, U etc) field level are GOAT shaded seats for day games - especially on 3B side.
