Terrible points buying experience
Update: after being on hold for 2 hours straight, I finally got connected with someone and they said there was an error in the crediting system. It had charged my card but would never have credited me if I didn’t stay on hold. I wouldn’t recommend this because obviously there’s something going on in the backend (saying as a software engineer myself) and the hoops you have to go through to get customer service are awful.
I bought points from the Alaska airlines website and I still haven’t been credited after the 72 hour wait. I originally contacted them by calling the number, and they said they would text from the number to chat to a customer care specialist.
I talked with them over the text line after the call, and at that point it had been over 48 hours. Crystal from customer care asked for my information and was going to fix it until she saw the date of purchase and said that I needed to wait one day and then contact them at the same number if I didn’t have the points.
After 72 hours since purchase, I contacted the same number and they immediately redirected me after waiting 18 minutes, without asking me more information and I had to wait another 25 minutes. Then Jessica from customer care said that I wasnt supposed to contact that number and could only call. She then informed me that while I talked to Crystal yesterday about it, I am misinformed and she won’t do anything else for me.
i am so frustrated that I cannot reach anyone about my missing points that I paid several hundred dollars for. I don’t recommend this process at all to anyone.
Points.com redirects you to calling the airline and both the confirmation page and the customer care said it takes a max of 72 hours. If anyone is considering buying points take my bad experience as a warning.
