Are we over-designing e-learning, or still not designing enough?

A lot of corporate e-learning still follows the same pattern: content, video, quiz, completion.

At the same time, instructional designers are being asked to add scenarios, gamification, AI, storytelling, accessibility, localization, analytics… sometimes all in the same project.

So I’m curious: where do you draw the line between “better learning design” and overcomplicating a course?

Is the future of e-learning more interactive, more personalized and more AI-assisted, or simply shorter, clearer and closer to the real work people need to do?
