Hey! Im an incoming first year uni student for this Feb 2027 at UQ! I'm looking for student accoms and am pretty set in stone with a studio at one of the Student One branches. What are your experiences with each of them? Just going purely by the layout of the rooms, Wharf st. looks best for me, but I've gotten not much luck looking for up to date info. Thanks! Hi! Im an incoming intl. student, majoring in ecology & cons. bio :D I have a few questions!

1. How's the program in terms of quality? is it worth investing in up 'till Honors+PhD?

2. Since I'll be in Gatton campus, would you recommend residence halls or staying elsewhere like toowoomba? I also heard only one of the residence hall buildings has AC, are the summers bearable in the non-AC dorms? (I'm not a very heat-tolerant person) How are the facilities? Most other reddit posts seem quite outdated on dorm rooms.

3. How is the environment for intl. students? Is there a large community, or is it more like a tightly-knit kinda thing?

4. One thing I see UQ brag about is the amount of field experience and practicals available. Is this true? Do you find them significant for future carriers?

5. Do you think the remoteness of the school is worth the quality of education and opportunities as compared to other Go8 schools (UNSW/UniMelb,Usyd, Monash, specifically)?

6. How is it like to live around QLD? I get mixed opinions about them being racist and being a bunch of hillbillies and stuff.

7. I'm not personally anparty person but I do enjoy an occasional date with myself to a cozy bar or go shopping, café hopping, etc. Are those kind of leisure activities available in nearby areas?

8. How is public transpo? Is there any way I can get myself to say, Brisbane from campus or toowoomba on weekends? I know the UQ shuttle bus only operates 4 times a day on weekdays. Is there really no way of getting around QLD without a car?

9. Any other tips? I'd love to learn more about my dream school!

Hi! for my friend's birthday, I am planning to buy him a lens filter. He uses a Sony NEX 5N and its default kit lens (which it probably 49mm based on my research). He does not own any lens filters himself, so at least I won't have to worry about gifting him a filter he already has. Do you have any recommendations on what to buy him? Im thinking of a polarized filter since he likes to take alot of nature and landscape photos. He also likes taking some close-up detailed photos of critters. Maybe a lens would be better? All suggestions are welcome! Budget is pretty big lmao so its not to worry about imo.
