Internal L4 starting Salary

I’m considering promoting from my T3 PA role to L4. I’ve been getting a lot of encouragement and recommendations from L4s and higher to go for it, and I’m definitely interested in the growth and opportunities that can come with moving into leadership.

My concern is making sure the promotion also makes sense financially.

I currently make close to $30 an hour as a T3 PA in the Chicagoland area, and I’m nowhere near the top of my pay step plan yet. Since L4 is salaried with no overtime, I’m concerned about potentially taking a pay cut by promoting.

For anyone who has gone from T3 to L4, especially in the Chicago market, what was your starting L4 salary and total compensation? Did the salary and RSUs make the move financially worthwhile compared with what you were earning hourly as a T3?

I absolutely see the value in the opportunity, experience, and future growth that comes with L4. I just want to make sure I’m looking at the full picture before making the jump.
