Weighing interim role

Ultimately I understand this is a personal decision but I would love additional insight.

I work in fundraising in a nonprofit as a senior level director. I currently supervise one person and manage a 1.5 million grant portfolio with complex public and private grants.

My supervisor is executive level and will be going on maternity leave shortly. I’ve been approached with an interim support role taking on a lot her job, including supervising four additional people, contributing to executive level meetings, and being the main player when the CEO needs information/collaboration. My supervisor estimates that this will add an additional 10-12 hours weekly to my work schedule.

I will be offered a temporary bump in salary of 12.5% for three months. This will clearly be a PD opportunity for me and also as I am the highest level Director (some vacancies), so a natural choice. My boss has said that if I decline this will not be held against me and I believe that is mostly true though, let’s be real, it will be inconvenient for everyone.

Here’s the thing…I’m basically fully at capacity now. I work full time and it’s not that rare that I jump on in the evenings or occasional weekends. I also have a family and kids in PreK and grade school. I’m often deeply tired and the phrase “I’m drowning” has been tossed around by me more than once. My partner is working only sporadically in tech so this pay bump could be great timing. Yet I have some hesitancy despite leaning towards yes.

Any insight from others who may have experienced similar offers and their path would be highly interesting to me - what would you advise me to consider? Pitfalls? Best scenarios?
