Tijgerhof?

With cape town absolutely exploding, what's the medium to long term prospects of Tijgerhof / Koeberg road? It's nestled between Woodbridge island and Century city... But then there's Rugby to one side.

Has anyone lived there? Care to share your experience?

Variegated anthirium?

Hi all,

I've successfully grown anthirium from seed and I'd love to import a variegated anthirium - does anyone know where I could find one? It would be to South Africa :) I'd also be happy to do a plant swap - hoyas cymbidiums etc.

Dear Rental seekers

Look, I know 99% of agents are a-holes, but I'm an owner and I self manage my properties. I also see a lot of people complaining about not finding a rental - but I see SO many people going about enquiring all wrong;

I place loads of photos and LOADS of text with information about the property on Propery24 and PrivateProperty

Something I notice

  1. People DO NOT READ. I mention the term, deposit, parking spaces etc etc and I still get these questions. Save yourself some time and read the information about the place you potentially want to call home for MONTHS / YEARS

  2. I get 20-50 enquiries a day; I'm not going to call you. It's just not practical. I'm not going to respond to the default Property24 email "hi there, I'm interested in this property, please contact me".

I can't speak for others, but as a landlord looking for my next tenant whilst being flooded with enquiries I will 100% respond to

* a personal message on email on WhatsApp. Something like "this is who I am, what I'm looking for, where I'm currently staying, rent I'm currently paying and how long I've been there " type messages - this shows me you're seriously enquiring

Best application I've ever received was a lady who rocked up to view the property and handed me a little file with copies of all her FICA documents as well as a letter of recommendation from her current landlord. I basically printed a rental contract for her on the spot.

Remember you're possibly one of 20-50 enquiries that day - make it easy for the recipient to like you / stand out from the majority of enquiries

Sleeper couch recommendation

Hi all,

We're moving to a two bedroom apartment - I'd like to make the second bedroom a study, but I'd want to also accommodate guests who visit now and then.

I was thinking of getting a queen sleeper couch. That way the office can have a nice couch when not in use by guests.

Do you have any thoughts on the type, Brand, style, size etc? Things to consider?

Medical insurance

Feel free to share related post

Looking for medical insurance advice for family; female 55 and male 54. Haven’t been on medical aid since Covid and I think the best option for them would be some sort of hospital plan / medical insurance (rather than medical aid). Financially they’ve been struggling.

Would prefer decent hospital and critical illness cover over day to day benefits. Does anyone have some suggestions and monthly costs to share ?

Appliances failing - is it the weather?

I don't know what moon has crossed which planet, but I've had my washing machine die about two weeks ago (resuscitated by LG services), then my microwave and bean to cup coffee machine died less than 24 hours apart.

They're not new; but they're not crap brands either - could it be the weather? I haven't noticed severe damp in the house but I'm wondering if the crazy weather can be to blame? Has anyone else had appliance doom?

Most meepface about the coffee machine :(
