Help finding beta testers for my travel planning app

Hi, all! (I promise this whole post was written 100% by hand and not AI)

Sorry if this does come through as self promotion, but I see it way more as a request for support.. I really need help testing my app.

I travel a couple times a year for tourism, and one thing I'm always trying on all my travels are different travel apps. I've tried Wanderlog, Tript, Tripsy, Stippl, Roamy, among many others.

While a lot of them have great features on their own, I've always felt like I couldn't get one that really helped me plan my trip and then keep using it and controlling it while I'm there (admitedlly, I'm very much a type-A kind of person).

So I decided to create my own. It takes inspiration from a lot of these I've mentioned, but probably my main inspiration was Wanderlog, so if you've used it in the past, you will find it somewhat familiar.

Among one of the things that bothered me a lot on many of the other apps, is the feeling that they are always trying to push me something: reserve through this link, book your hotels here, buy these flights, etc... And that's something I won't do. In consequence, if the app indeed is a success after the beta testing, there will be a subscription, but beta participation is free.

Here are some of the features:

  1. The idea of the app is to find, save, and then add places to an itinerary. After that, once the trip starts, you can control your daily itinerary through a today page
  2. Another different way the app works is the "cities" organization. It organizes all your saved places by cities, so it's easier to navigate and prioritize
  3. Availability: It's available on iOS (iPad + iPhone, both through testflight) and Web (Android coming soon)
  4. Forward e-mails: Add your flights, hotels and ground transport manually or forwarding e-mails
  5. Discover guides: the app searches and finds several travel guides for the cities you are going, and you can add / save places straight from those guides
  6. Nearby: once you are there you can see nearby places easily around you (split by category: attractions, restaurants, museums, cafes, etc...)
  7. Budget: add a budget (per category or not) and control your daily burn rate
  8. Add places: you can add places in the app, from videos in tiktok (by sharing or copying the link), or google maps
  9. Documents: you can save your travel documents for quick access
  10. Share and collaborate: you can invite tripmates to collaborate or as view-only
  11. Reservations: you can add booking times to your activities, and it will organize them in a reservations section for you to easily see what you have booked
  12. Offline: It's read-only but 100% available off-line. You can check whatever you have saved (even your documents) while offline
  13. Today page: an easy access page where you can easily and beautifuly see all your planning for the day
  14. PDF: download a PDF of your itinerary to share with other people that might not use the app.
  15. Dark mode: of course, dark and light mode 😄
  16. Design: I'm pretty obsessed with the design part, so I really tried to polish and make it very modern (especially in comparison to other apps

There's more, but those are the main important points... Still no AI, but to be honest I'm kind of bummed that every single travel app now is "build your own trip with AI!", and, while it's easy, it's never that good. I might add it at some point, but I really like planning my own trips, and I think that's probably my targets audience for the app.

Beta participation:

  • Since there are a lot of connected APIs and it's a single person project, I'm limiting beta participation to ~50 people.
  • If you want to participate, **you need to drop your gmail** (needs to be a google e-mail for now), **first and last name** (you can send me through DM if you prefer) so I can add you to the allowed list to create an account.
  • Would love if the beta participants had an iphone / ipad so they could give me feedback on both the mobile and web versions.
  • Ideally, I'm looking for people who are tech-savvy, can critique the app and give feedbacks as a whole.
  • Even more ideally, if you indeed have a real case scenario of a trip you are going soon, you can test it on a real case scenario! (I just did on Scotland and it was great!)

The name of the app is Vellora. Here are some screenshots of the app so you can have a feel for it.
