FMLA after a month from due date?
My due date is in late June but my year mark for my work is mid August, so of course I don’t qualify for FMLA. Also unfortunately, my HR person is fairly new and doesn’t fully understand the rules of everything (how to use my short term disability, length of leave for the pregnancy workers fairness act). It is a state job, if that matters.
Is it possible to take 6 weeks unpaid (as stated by my Doctor’s note), take my two weeks saved PTO and then take FMLA up to 12 weeks once I qualify in August? Has anyone done this? Wondering if I can use FMLA once I hit my year mark even though it’s after the birth and I qualify in the middle of it? I know I’ll need to ask HR but not sure if she would fully know either.
