I honestly didn’t know garlic was toxic to dogs and gave it to a dog by mistake.
Two years ago I used to dog sit, and someone hired me to watch their Chihuahua for about seven hours. While I was there, I ordered some food from DoorDash that had a crazy amount of garlic in it. After I ate, I gave the dog a good amount of the leftovers and it ate them. Four or five days later, the dog got seriously sick and had to be put down. After they took it to the vet, they asked me if I had given the dog any food, and I admitted that I had and told them exactly what I gave it. They were obviously really unhappy because it was their dog, but they didn’t press charges or anything.
