Rest In Peace Percy🩵
Today we had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy, Percy.
Percy came into our lives after originally belonging to my Nanna, and he quickly became such a special little part of our family. He was full of personality and loved to sing, dance and talk. One of his favourite things to say was “give us a kiss”, he loved to dance to “off the wall” by Michael Jackson and he had a way of making himself completely impossible not to love.
Last week, we sadly lost our other budgie Walter when he escaped through a window. We searched everywhere and desperately hoped we would find him and bring him home. Percy seemed okay at first, but over the following days he became quieter and stopped eating as much. We took him to the vets, where they suspected a crop infection, and we did everything we could to help him. He had antibiotics, supportive care and so much love and attention.
Last night he had a surge of energy, and I felt so full of hope. He was eating and drinking and seemed to have some of his spark back, which gave us hope, but by this afternoon he had become incredibly weak. His legs eventually stopped supporting him and he took his final breaths, he passed away in my hands.
I keep thinking there must have been something more we could have done. We would have done absolutely anything for him. But we were there with him, holding him and loving him until the very end.
I hope wherever he is now, he’s flying freely again with Walter. 💙
Percy, you were so loved, and you always will be. 🕊️
