Why he is doing that?

I don’t know what happened. He was perfectly fine. He was playing with his water bowl and started attacking my hand whenever he sees it. Now he is not leaving his bowl all day and he looks like he is in the full alert mode. Is this like a territory defense or something?

My budgies won’t eat veggies!

I chop fresh veggies for them and put them in a bowl, but they won’t eat them. How do I make them eat veggies?

Is their setup good/ how can I make it even better?

I have had my budgies for one month and this is their set up. I plan to get a fake grass mat to cover half of the bottom. I clean the bottom out just about every day. when you give me advice please remember that I do have to have time between purchases because my dad will not just let me buy a whole bunch of stuff upfront. I plan on getting them even more natural wood purchases that I had to split an eight pack with my Conure and my budgies.

I just lost the last three of my flocks In a horrible way. Please share some of your favorite memories with your own

Edit: title has a typo, not multiple flocks, but three birds. Can't see well through tears

I'm feeling beyond miserable at the moment. I'm not ready to talk about it but I need some levity, some cheer in the face of the grief.

I'll start. I like to game, and can spend hours at a computer on something. My favorite moments were the quiet times, and some would fall asleep on my monitor, or my shoulder. Preening each other, and sometimes me or my hair, haha.

I already miss them so much.

Unusual budgie's behavior

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me understand my budgie’s recent behavior.

I have a female budgie who is about a year old. I also have a male budgie. They spend the day together, but I separate them into different cages at night.

Over the past few weeks, my female has started acting very strangely at bedtime. I cover both cages as usual, and they normally go to sleep on their swings. However, instead of settling down, she clings to the side of the cage (like in the photo). She can stay there for hours.

I usually uncover a corner of the cage and gently encourage her to move. Sometimes she eventually goes back to her usual sleeping spot, but other nights she stays restless for most of the night.

I know that getting 10–12 hours of uninterrupted sleep is very important for budgies, especially females, to help prevent hormonal behavior, so I'm quite worried.

The strange thing is that during the day she behaves completely normally. She's active, eats well, interacts with my other budgie, and I haven't noticed any other changes.

What could be causing this? Could she suddenly dislike having the cage covered? I've always covered both cages to give them a dark, quiet environment for sleeping, and this has never been a problem before.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what might be going on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Happy birbs morning forage plate

I love giving my birds different fruits & veggies. I drop a few seeds in to get them to try it. They loved the spinach and strawberries I plated for them today. What do your birds like to try? I’m always looking for suggestions.. TIA

Just Rescued Two Neglected Budgies (Need Advice)

Hi everyone! I just got a pair of budgies today from my husband’s friend, who wasn’t caring for them properly. They were on a basic seed mix (I learnt that it's too fatty for them) and kept in a very small cage housed in their bathroom too keep them away from their cat. Sadly, they originally had four budgies, but the other two were attacked by the family cat, so they decided to rehome the remaining two.

I had budgies as a teenager but had to rehome them when I moved countries. Now I finally have the chance to care for them again as companions, and I’ve been reading the wiki and everything I can find on proper budgie care.

I’d really appreciate help with a few things:

  1. I think both are males. Could you help confirm their sex and give an estimate of their ages based on the photos?

  2. Can I keep them in my bedroom? My husband’s uncle lives with us, so it would be inconvenient to have the cage in a shared space.

  3. Their current cage is obviously small. I’d like to upgrade them to a bigger one. When is the best time to do this, and how should I go about the transition?

  4. Pellets aren’t available where I live. I’m planning to give them a diet of quality seeds that have added nutrients/supplements, plenty of fresh veggies, cuttlebone, and a mineral block.

Any tips or adjustments I should make?

Thank you so much in advance! Any advice is greatly appreciated. 💗

Venting about cruel budgie breeding facilities

If you guys have seen the recent video of a budgie breeding facility in Oklahoma you'll probably know what I mean. I'm just....I can't explain the feeling from it. It's horrible. I have the mental image of the head of a decapitated budgie burned into my psyche. I don't like PETA and very rarely agree with what they say but that is just, oh my God.

I'm not against the humane breeding and husbandry of budgies and other birds, I just really hate seeing these factory-style breeding facilities. I'm trying to keep self-control from looking up information on this exact breeding facility because it'll just make me upset. If I ever get another bird in the future I'm not going to get one from PetSmart or Petco. Most likely a breeder, rescue, or a small independent store that actually KNOWS how to humanely raise birds (which are far and few in between). I just...I don't know what else to say. I'm speechless. Those poor babies. 💔

(Here are my babies. They're my life.)
