Enjoying a New and Clean Cage

Zazu and Frost would not stop squawking at me while they waited in their carrier for me to clean their cage. The cage is new (powder coated) because the previous one got rusty. Cleaned the perches (F10 followed by Dawn Soap and Vinegar) and put new toys. Very happy to see them happy <3 Happy Wednesday everyone. May something good happen to you all today! And if not… better days are coming 🙏

Someone Shi*ted by my House

Hello, I’m here asking for help on how to stop or prevent someone using the ally way as a restroom. They continue to shit in the perimeter of our home. We continue to have to clean it up and it’s not fun and as well as disgusting. 🤢 I can’t afford any cameras right now. It’s definitely not in my budget. Unless there is a super cheap way to monitor the perimeter of my house. Thanks!

Training Frost

This is how training is going c: Of course it’s only the successful portion there have been many unsuccessful and stressful training sessions. But the most rewarding part is when it works

Bird Safe Plants

Hello everyone. I have this creative idea! I want to put bird safe plants in budgie habitat. We bought a new cage that allows for flight (62L x 19W x 64H). We put stainless steel mesh all around the cage for extra protection. When adding stimulus to the cage I also want to include greenery. I just don’t know which plants are safe. Could you offer some suggestions? I’m also open to growing the plants my self. What about soil? Is there such things as bird safe soil? Ofc I will do my own research but different points of view go a long way. Thanks!

Budgie Trained

16 days since we adopted this budgie. His/Her name is Frost. Currently training short sessions. Trying to improve on my bird knowledge and training skills. This is his temporary cage while he sits in quarantine. He is moved to a quieter room in the evenings to sleep. He does come out and tries to fly. He gets irritated that his wings won’t work 😔 they clipped them at the pet shop. Poor baby has been through some things. I can reassure he has found his forever home and I’m willing to take on the responsibility of adding another budgie to our flock (:

Parrots are life! 💚

Over 89 species of parrots/birds are endangered due to human caused mortality. To mention a few, California Condor, Imperial Parrot, mangrove finch, Spix Macaw!
So many beautiful creatures. We SHARE Earth. If you’re in high school going to college think of the wonderful things you can do for Earth during your youth! The rewarding careers you can enjoy and have!
But… what can you do as a regular shmegular person?? Like I.

  1. Never buy wild caught birds! Never buy online pets who are highly protected species and are being sold. These include, African Greys, Rare Cockatoos. You need proper legal paperwork.
  2. Buy shade grown and organic produce to protect tropical rainforest.
  3. If you have a pet parrot protect them by doing your research. In this way you can provide the best possible care.
  4. When traveling stay in communities that respect and protect parrot habitats.

I LOVE BIRDS! ❤️👍❤️

You are NOT alone.

An overwhelming feeling of dread sent me into a panic attack and anxiety attack. I’ve suffered from anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts (never gotten diagnosed). But I’ve always known my mind can be a very tricky place. I’ve never acted on any dark thoughts. I have always tried to keep myself calm through meditation, breathing, exercising, studying, reading self discovery books, being kind, etc. but sometimes the human mind tries to win. Please know… the feeling is temporary. The feeling will pass. Face your fear. Don’t give up. Please don’t give up. I LOVE YOU.

Training Zazu

Zazu just had breakfast so he’s not so excited about training. He’s a lone budgie since my other budgie flew away 💔 still healing from the grief. Zazu is not really alone. I’m always here for him. GO BUDGIES

Adopting a bird is a HUGE Responsibility

Too often I see people adopt birds without thinking “how they can help them thrive in an environment not meant for them?”
Well let me tell you. They are a lot of work.

Non-Toxic Flight Cage

Fixing this cage up for keet safety. Putting some stainless steel mesh around the cage. Both the cage material and the mesh are bird safe and will be durable. The reason we’re doing this is because some keets will try to squeeze through the bars and it can also help against predators. We still have a long way to go: softening up the edges of the metal and other things. Any suggestions?

Missing Keet in California

I never had Reddit. I’ve interacted with it through the website but never downloaded the app. Here I am in desperate need to get the word out. I lost Snow. My beautiful friend of 3 years. She flew out a window during a time of distraction. Some stand out characteristics is her half white belly and half light blue belly. Band on her left foot. And her wing colors imitate the rings of Saturn. She went missing May 16 in Downey CA. I’ve attached an image below. Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful day wherever you are. Whoever you are. ❤️ peace and love. Faith and strength.
