Ponytail Palm Help
Hi there, I'm planning on doing a major prune on my ponytail palm, and I want to make sure I don't accidentally murder it. I'd like to prune it pretty low, just below the bottom pup (1.5'-2' above the caudex). There's a few reasons why: a) it's so tall it gets blown over in medium wind, leaving it with scars from bonking into stuff on the way down. b) It's too tall to take inside during cold weather. c) It'd be cool for it to grow some branches. I'm also going to repot it (in the same pot) because the current soil does not drain well.
Any advice on avoiding death and distruction would be great! (Plus advice on propagating pups and the top)
