Perspectives

Longtime lurker, first time caller.

I’m so glad we’re back in the playoffs. Watching these games brings back such nostalgic feelings: immense anxiety, utter disappointment, and unbridled joy. The emotions are so loud it’s easy to forget what it was like before and how long we’ve clamored to be back here again. I would way rather be talking about ways to win game 6 than who we’re going to take in the draft or speculating on offseason moves. The hardest part about being a fan is knowing that you can’t actually influence the outcome of this thing that you’re so emotionally invested in.

The boys looked defeated last night - like they thought they were done - and that was tough to watch. The blowouts in this series have been deflating and all the noise from the media is like salt in the wound.

Frankly, fuck the narratives. I don’t give a damn about what’s happened in the past or what hasn’t happened. In times like these, I have to remind myself: where else would you rather be than right here, right now?

I didn’t hear no bell. You must be a masochist to love this team - especially when they’re on their last leg - they’re ill but they’re not dead. I’m no Pollyanna but I still believe - I still have hope - that they can find a way to win this series. And should they lose, I’m still wearing my Sarbes gear proudly. Besides, the French are a bunch of assholes anyway. I don’t need their pity nor their poutine - I’ve got my own. Buffalo in 7.
