Title Edit here cause apparently I’m a Reddit noob…Walking my dog not “waking”.
Live in a a cute HOA of about 70 small houses in a woody suburban town in NW CT. Built in 2001 all squeezed together on tenth acre lots. Lucky enough to have purchased back in 2019 before prices and rates skyrocketed. Melting pot of neighbors from young families, those with HS kids, retired couples, widows…and then there’s me. Early 30s single dude and his dog. I have a 12 yr old all black Shepard/akita mix (Kuma) that I walk 3x times a day. Friendly with a healthy chunk of my neighbors, know me and my pup by name. Those that don’t at least know I’m the first house on the right. As any responsible dog owner does, I do my best to keep him from doing his business on others lawns, shrubs etc. and always pick up after him. I even mounted up some poop bags in those container rolls on our community mailboxes. (And yet I still seem to always stumble upon some tiny abandoned turds on our walks lol) There’s a strip of grass between the sidewalk and main drag, which is our usual dumping grounds. But we a few different walk loops that we do.
A few weeks ago I saw a post on our HOAs FB group from an older woman whom I’ve never met or seen out.
“Whoever you are, keep your dog off our lawns. The road is sufficient for walking your dog”
Ensuing album of 5 different blurry screenshots from her 2nd floor security camera. Can’t make out that it’s really me, or even Kuma for that matter, but alas it’s definitely us. Pics are him standing/sniffing 1ft inside of her neighbors lawn. No likes or comments on the post from a surprisingly active group.
She lives on a side st where there’s no sidewalk. I don’t see it as a big deal all considering..personally do not care when other neighborhood dogs do the same. They’re dogs - they sniff, they tinkle. It’s only grass.
Regardless, I’m not one for confrontation or disrespect. I get it, it’s her property. So I’ve just been actively avoiding walking Kuma down her street for the past couple weeks until the other night. It was late and wanted to do just a quick spin. Walking in the middle of the st and Kuma pulls me over to her lawn. We walk down past her flowers in front and he only sniffs. Pee further down the road and loop back home.
Sure as shit I’m scrolling the next day and I see another post from her. This time accused “whoever you are” from peeing on her flowers. “Don’t make it necessary to turn on my security alarm siren to scare you off and your mutt”
Can’t decide to whether continue on and pretend I didn’t see her post - let it play out. Or confront her next time I see her. I don’t really want to get HOA involved on something like this either. Granted I’m 100% sure they’re aware and don’t want to deal with her just yet either. AIO?
