My brother (Sam) and sister-in-law (Ann) are (unhappily) married. Been married 20 years. 9 months ago Ann changed her profile status to ‘Separated’. But they were not separated and neither had filed for any separation or divorce. Ann only recently handed Sam a separation agreement which needs to be signed by both of them, witnessed and notarized. Sam is ready to sign as he is done with trying to fix their relationship when Ann clearly wants out. The separation agreement states that once signed, Ann has 60 days to move out of the home. Ann has it written up this way. This is her idea and she agreed to move and Sam stay in the home. But for some reason Ann is not cooperating when Sam continually asks that they go to a notary together to sign the agreement. Ann keeps telling Sam to go by himself. And then she’ll go. Why do you think she is doing this? She changed her profile status to separated 7 months before even writing a separation agreement. And now that she had one written up she is being difficult when Sam wants to sign and begin to ‘countdown’ for her to leave. What game is she playing? Any ideas why she is acting this way? She doesn’t want to stay with Sam so why won’t she sign the agreement now?
