6 year old had outgrown dolls
Growing up in the 1980s, I wanted a AG doll SO badly. Several of my friends had them (although only one per friend), but financially it wasn’t in the cards for my family. Fast forward to 2026 and my daughter has, I believe, 13 AG dolls (many of those are hand me downs from family and friends, to be clear), a house, bins of clothes, a horse, etc. and my husband and I had “the talk” last night - she just isn’t playing with any of it anymore. Is this because kids have so many toys these days that they aren’t special? Is it because there are other things (like iPads?) that are competing for her attention that we didn’t have? In any case, I’m sad about this development and now trying to figure out the best way to get rid of all of these things that carry more sentimental value for me than they do for her. It’s depressing. Parents, when did your kids reach this stage and how did you deal with getting rid of all of the stuff?
