Upgrade to iOS 18.7.8 from 17.5.1?

I really like the look of iOS 17, and I feel like they started messing with things they shouldn’t have from iOS 18 onwards (like control centre and gallery app) and as user of iOS for 15 years it stings , but I am a bit worried that I won’t be able to pick iOS 18 for long and will have to be forced into iOS 26.

The only reason I’m even thinking about this update is because I can’t even download most apps nowadays, they all require iOS 18, but I’m very worried about battery life since it’s pretty bad as is (battery health 77%).

What do you think should I update? If you could share your experience with iOS 18 I’d appreciate it!

Hello everyone, I was looking for some info maybe from your own experiences in regard to scholarships and life at ETH. Specifically I’m aiming for the ESOP scholarship, but I know it’s kind of impossible (only 60 a year) so I was looking for some advice on whether other financial aid might be possible or if you’re able to fit in a part-time job, as I’d like to be self sufficient and can’t rely on my parents.

Specifically I’m aiming for the Data Science MSc, it’s been my dream since I first got in my university, which is by no means top-tier or reputable. However, I’ve tried to make the most of it achieving atleast top 3 GPA in my class, maybe even first but nothing is verified right now, getting some experience in a research lab in my university and joining and leading a student club centred around learning and exposure to different fields of Comp Sci.

By the time I’ll apply I will have 2 years research experience in computer vision, leading my own task in an Horizon funded EU project, undertaking hard projects with multiple partners etc. From what I gather from my research, ETH has an active computer vision research lab (which I’d love to contribute to, would that be possible during my msc?) spanning more aspects such as model architecture aswell as more applied, utilising robotics and computer vision (which the project I mentioned before is similar). I also have a comparative evaluation that will be published in a low-tier conference as my first first-author paper that I basically did solo, and I’m hoping I can get my name on some more publications we’ll publish to top venues such as CVPR as I’ve done some extra grunt work.

What do you think my chances are currently? Should I wait and apply next year instead of this November so as to have more publications? I don’t really have the capital to fund my living expenses + tuition, so I was hoping to maximise my chances of a scholarship, what do you think?
