Replacing this beast

I think we all acknowledge that the 13 Pro is an uncommonly good phone, however there will (eventually) come a time when I need to retire mine.

Is there a consensus on the closest replacement from the more recent offerings? Taking into account value for money, camera quality, hardware, build quality - where do you think you’ll go next? Apple or Android answers welcome.

Camera Died out of nowhere

I’ve been using my iPhone 13 Pro for about a year now and have just recently gotten a battery and screen replacement. Today I tried using my ultra wide camera but the app froze so I rebooted and was greeted with this unknown part message.

Is there any fix available for this prob other than replacing the entire camera?

Upgrading to iphone 13 pro in 2026

I've had an iphone xs max for years and it's been great with 98% battery life. Recently, I've experienced some lagging which I never had before. It also doesn't support iOS 26. I only want to use the iphone 13 pro for photos, content taking and airtag. Not much of a day to day use. The iphone 13 pro I'm getting has a 100% battery life if anyone's asking.

Any thoughts?

Has repairing your iPhone 13 Pro changed your mind about upgrading?

When the 13 Pro came out, I thought I'd probably keep it for three or four years before moving on. Now that time has come, and I'm surprised that I don't really feel the need to upgrade.

Apart from a few things that naturally wear out over time, the phone still feels incredibly capable for everyday use. It made me realize that repairing a phone every now and then might make more sense than replacing it as often as we used to.

For those who've repaired their 13 Pro instead of replacing it, did it make you feel like you got another couple of years out of the phone, or did you still end up upgrading soon after?

I'm curious whether people are holding onto the 13 Pro longer than they originally expected.

The iPhone 13 Apocalypse

Recently on social media people have been talking about the iOS 26.5 update making iPhone 13’s lag. The same lag, overheating and sudden drop of battery health has reached my iPhone 13 Pro.

I bought this with 80% battery health about 2 months ago. It’s now 65%. Last sunday (it’s friday now) it was 67%… My chargers are tweaking and my phone is just overall bad right now. Anyone else have this problem?

Holy what?!

Only in the music app? Any other songs that have the same thing?

PS: It’s different from the live album art that Apple Music introduced last year. It doesn’t come on the lock screen, only in the player

Replace battery or new phone?

I have an iPhone 13 Pro from 2022 and its battery life has gotten horrendous lately. On Sunday I used 6 hours 12 minutes of screen on time and it depleted 133% of my battery. I have to charge midway through every day, sometimes twice. Battery health app says 77%. The problem definitely seemed to get worse when I upgraded to iOS 26 a couple months ago.

If I pay Apple to replace the battery, will that really do much for me? Or is the iPhone 13 Pro just too old to handle newer versions of iOS?

I Was Worried About iOS 26 Performance—Turns Out I Didn't Need to Be

I've seen a lot of people saying that iOS 26 hurts iPhone performance. I only updated because I'm getting my battery replaced, and the service center asked me to install the latest version of iOS so they could run the proper diagnostics.

So far, my phone feels just as fast as before—if anything, it actually feels a bit smoother. I can't really judge the battery life yet because my current battery is worn out and already due for replacement. I'll be able to give a fair opinion after the new battery is installed.

As for performance, animations, and overall smoothness, everything works perfectly fine.

The only thing I don't like is the new design. To me, it looks kind of cheap. You can switch to the frosted/matte effect, but then you lose the transparency, which I actually like on the Lock Screen.

If you're worried that updating to iOS 26 will make your phone slower, that hasn't been my experience at all.

Wait 2 weeks for a phone replacement or go with a 3rd party battery replacement?

Where I am (Brunei), we don’t have official Apple service centres, just authorized dealers. One of them, the biggest one, deals directly with Apple in Singapore or Malaysia.

My 13 Pro is at 76% battery health and still in immaculate condition. With how it looks and performs, I really cannot see myself replacing it with an entirely new yet expensive iPhone (the prices here for tech is obscene). However battery life is so bad now and with my high usage, its really inconvenient to have to charge more than twice to get me through the day. Otherwise I have absolutely nothing against this phone.

Unfortunately I went in the store to ask for a battery replacement but they told me they would have to send my phone overseas to have it replaced entirely (probably a refurbished unit with 100% status) since they do not do battery replacements for these old models anymore (??). It would cost me roughly $120 to “get a new phone” is how they worded it. This entire process would take 2 weeks of me without the phone… which is a pain point for me.

Alternatively there are a bunch of “reputable” third party repair shops here that do a battery replacement for half the price. But the battery will likely trigger the unverified message which would kinda bother me I guess but does it really matter at this point? Also I’m afraid of them potentially breaking my phone so there’s that too. But atleast I could have my phone back in an hour.

What do you suggest I do? What are your experiences and opinions on third party battery replacements for the iPhone?

Phone heating issue

I’m traveling internationally and currently am in South Asia. My phone heats up like anything with just basic usage like social media, streaming and browsing even in indoors.

Just got my battery replaced two months ago in USA . Since then even in US my phone did get warmed up a bit. But here it’s just gets warm to the point I can feel it through my case.

Is it normal or something big is wrong with the phone?

I thought I only needed a new battery

I’ve had my 13 Pro since December 2021. Over the past months, especially in the last 2-3 weeks, my battery performance has dropped significantly. Battery health shows 72% capacity.

I’ve been happy with my phone, and honestly haven’t checked out the new 17 series or looked into the upcoming 18 series.

I made a Genius Bar appointment for a battery replacement, and after running a diagnostic, the tech said my phone has a system failure. It’s not just the battery that needs replacing, but the entire logic board and battery. The tech pointed out that my phone’s screen has started to bulge out, which I hadn’t ever noticed before.

That means that the $99 battery replacement was out, and the estimate to replace the logic board, battery and whatever else would be about $440.

I have no illusions of getting any moderate amount of money if/when I trade this phone in. But for nearly $500, I’d rather put that towards paying off a new phone.

As it stands now, after a full night of charging, my phone might last up anywhere from 3 - 5 hours without charging. Though not without restarting several times and jumping from 10% charge up to 65% then down to 10% for an hours before it dies again.

What recommendations do you have? Buy and start walking around with a MagSafe battery backup? I haven’t looked too deeply into it, but I’ve seen reports that one of the 17 series (not sure which) isn’t worth upgrading to.

UPDATE: I did find a phone repair shop nearby. I never mention that I had gone to Apple, and the tech never asked. I told them about the battery degrading recently and showed him how it started to bulge out. After a quick visual inspection, he told me he could change the battery. I’m sure it wasn’t an official Apple battery. But 30 minutes and about $115 later I have a new battery that will be me some more time before upgrading to a new phone altogether.
