My husband and I filed jointly this year in February. Our tax return is around $11,000. He does pay child support HOWEVER he doesn't have any arrears due to paying too much. We got a letter in the mail saying that $8,000 was offset to pay the child support office. The mothers of his children haven't been paid this sum per the Child Support website, and an agent actually confirmed this. She told him that we would be receiving the check within 6 weeks, but we haven't received anything. We have contacted the child support office and IRS since then, but no one can help.

I was curious if anything like this has ever happened, and what can we expect?
