Prior to my layoff at work, our pup (1y 2m now) was able to free roam the apartment throughout an entire workday without any accidents or chewing. On occasion we would pay a dog walker halfway through the work day on some weeks to take her on a quick walk.
I was laid off and unemployed for 3 months and was with her every day! I am now employed now, and my wife and I are back to normal work schedules. As soon as we went back to our normal work schedules and our pup was home alone during the work day, she’s been acting up. Mainly chewing up shoes which she has neverrrr done, and chews on the occasional plant. No accidents though!
Any tips on how to stop this behavior without a crate or dog walker?
Note: We will do a walker in a few weeks if need be when we can afford it. She had a whole toy bin at her disposal and we even tried “Dog TV” on YouTube but she still acted up. We removed the shoes from the living room and will be closing off access to the room with the plant she has been chewing on recently.
