Dexter
A day and life of my bestie Dexter.
Dexter has been my Best friend for 16 years, and he is still as full of shit as the first day I got him
He’s always loved a good stick
Toklat is six now, but this was his first stick. Still finds one on every walk.
Eskie Puppy Struggles
We got an eskie puppy a month ago who is 3 months old now. He's cute, playful and we love him but need help around a couple things.
Past couple weeks he's been barking and biting like crazy. He'd bark for no reason and even while playing. I understand that's their way to communicate but our leasing office is saying they're surprised someone hasn't complained yet. Plus whenever we play with him as he starts to get excited he'd start biting the hands and ankles a lot. Both me and my wife have scratches where he got us. We have tried the usual redirection and training him by leaving the area or getting him chew toys/bones, nothing seems to be working. To train him for the barking he has learned that if he stays silent for 30s he'd get a treat but not more.
He has also had sort of cyclical diarrhea. It gets better for a few days then a little worse and then better again. Could it be the kibble? What seems to help is switching 2 of his meals with rice and cottage cheese.
We try to take him out for longer walks well but it's not always possible and we live in an apartment so being free in the backyard is not possible. Appreciate any pointers!
Took her to work and they gave her photo shoot
Farmer’s Dog-type food for your Eskie?
Anyone with experience giving Farmer’s Dog or any of those similar brands to their American Eskimo?
Wondering if there are any breed-specific concerns with this diet change. I have had my baby on Hills Diet since I found her since that was universally recommended by all my vet friends.
I know eskies can be prone to things like pancreatitis, so I want to be careful with changes like this. I plan to monitor her weight as well.
My goal with this change is to reinvigorate her interest in eating, as eating dog food has always seemed like a chore for her (but she loves human food). Just looking for advice and experiences with anyone else who has done or considered this.
Thank you!
